Persian Cat History:

The Persian cat has a long and illustrious history as a prized possession of royalty from England to Persia, dating back more than 5 centuries. The Persian cat is thought to have arrived in Europe during the time of the Crusades, having been brought from it's native Persia (now known as Iran) and from Turkey.

Persians took another step forward in the 19th century by being introduced to the North American cat fancy. It shot to the top as the most popular purebred cat breed in North America, and it holds that position to this very day.  

Persian Cat Appearance:

Persians are the true supermodels of the cat world. They possess a gorgeous, long coat that comes in a wide array of colors and patterns. Persians have a "pansy face" that is endearingly cute; they are medium to large sized cats with a long, thick, silky coat that requires daily brushing to keep it looking wonderful. Persians can be described as having a "cobby" body, low on their legs and broad, but not overweight. For most people, their first meeting with a Persian cat puts them in awe of this cat breed's great beauty.

The ultimate lap cats, Persian cats have a lot in common with babies. They are extra cute and extra sweet, and need a safe, quiet and secure home with plenty of affection and attention to help them thrive. They are better suited to being your "furry child", than being a children's pet.

Persian cat prices vary greatly from breeder to breeder. They range from $1100 to $5000, depending on whether you are purchasing a companion kitten, or a Persian kitten that will be a show cat or breeding cat.
